All about Bears
Pebbles went on a Bear Hunt this week - searching high, low, over, under and through the Nursery for any sign of wet noses and furry ears.
We have used fantastic positional language and supported our friends to understand what these words as well as inventing a new games to play outside - "What's the time Mr Bear!"
As we looked at pictures of Bears in their natural habitat, we used magnetic polygons to create enclosures for them, thinking about where they might live and what they would like to eat.
For our learning together time, we focused on listening for the "b" sound in Bear, and number recognition as we tried to feed a very greedy bear some cupcakes on the computer. Some of us can recognise numbers beyond 10 now, and are correctly counting quantity, which surprised the grown ups who thought they may be able to trick us!
For story times, we enjoyed 'We are going on a bear Hunt', 'Whatever next' and 'Goldilocks and the three bears'. These books gave perfect opportunities for positional language, language of size and joining in repetitive refrains within the story. We also used some quiet, reflective time to consider how the Bear in the Bear Hunt story felt at the very end of the tale and what we may say or do to him should we have seen him.
It's been a very active and busy week, with us welcoming more children in on Thursday and Friday and it has been wonderful seeing the children back together!
